Job Summary
The Department of Developmental Services - Porterville Developmental Center is seeking a skilled Vocational Instructor - Carpentry Safety to join our team. As a Vocational Instructor - Carpentry Safety, you will be responsible for delivering hands-on vocational training to adult students in the occupational area of carpentry. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom instruction and hands-on vocational training to adult students in the occupational area of carpentry.
- Develop and implement individualized and group-oriented education, transition, and vocational skills training related to the educational program.
- Collaborate with special education teachers and adult education instructors to select and implement academic curriculum and instructional materials.
- Use data to inform instruction and ensure student achievement of learning goals.
- Ensure the safety of students, staff, and forensic clients, which may include escorting forensic clients, distributing and accounting for training equipment and supplies, and inspecting facilities for security breaches.
Requirements
- Valid Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) authorizing the holder to teach career technical, trade, or vocational courses in the occupational area of carpentry in the Building and Construction Trades Industry Sector.
- Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained within the duty statement.
- Ability to work extended hours if needed.

The Vocational Instructor - Carpentry Safety will work in a fast-paced environment with ongoing responsibility for the protection and safeguarding of the public and property. The position requires regular and substantial contact with forensic individuals and the ability to respond to emergency situations.
Special Requirements
- Background Investigation clearance prior to being hired.
- Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
