Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for ensuring quality specimens for Laboratory testing by recognizing pre-analytical factors that adversely affect patient results. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of technical and administrative tasks, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews technical activities for quality assurance per facility requirements.
  • Participates in Laboratory preparation for self and onsite inspections.
  • Follows site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and instructions.
  • Performs required Quality Control (QC) measures, including corrective action and documentation.
  • Acts as a resource person/key operator for coworkers, customers, and patients for technical questions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in science from a college/university recognized by regional or national accreditation agency.
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited MLS program, NAACLS or ABHES accredited MSL program, or a foreign medical laboratory science clinical training program within the last five years.
  • ASCP or AMT Board certification consistent with scope of responsibility.
