Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares surgical team and assists in basic draping.
- Positions OR equipment and supplies, prepares and operates room equipment.
- Creates sterile area using aseptic technique and prepares supplies.
- Recognizes and corrects when sterility is compromised.
- Performs counts per policy and procedures.
- Follows National Patient Safety Goal guidelines.
- Selects equipment and supplies by use of preference cards.
- Locates basic equipment and supplies.
- Identifies and demonstrates methods of surgical reprocessing of instrumentation and supplies.
- Prepares self for the scrub role and prepares surgical instrument supplies for surgery.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education.
- Less than one year of previous job-related experience.
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
- Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist.
