Job Summary

The Olympia School District is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist - Student Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in assessing students' functional development level, maximizing their functional level, and providing information for program development and student placement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess students' fine motor skills and development skills for the purpose of determining their deficits and developing recommendations.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, other personnel, and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services, and/or making recommendations.
  • Facilitate meetings for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding students' functional goals.
  • Instruct students for the purpose of implementing plans for re-mediation of functional limitations.
  • Prepare documentation for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations, and/or conveying information.
  • Present information on various topics related to professional expertise in occupational therapy for the purpose of communicating information and gaining feedback on treatment issues.
  • Research resources and methods for the purpose of determining appropriate approaches for addressing students' functional goals.
  • Screen students for the purpose of determining the need for further individualized assessment.
Requirements
  • Prior job-related experience.
  • Skills to apply assessment techniques and treatment modalities, communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of assessment techniques and treatment modalities, relevant education codes, state and district policies, child development patterns.
  • Abilities to complete a case study and develop an individual education plan; work independently, be flexible, and work under time constraints; work effectively with staff, parents, students, and community.
Qualifications
  • Licensure for Occupational Therapy.
  • Washington State ESA Certificate.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $57,333 - $108,006, with additional benefits including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, as well as participation in the Department of Retirement Services (DRS) SERS plan or TERS plan, and the DRS Deferred Compensation Program.
