Job Title: Navigation Software Engineer

Leidos is seeking a skilled Navigation Software Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. As a key member of our Guidance, Navigation, Control, and Autonomy Branch, you will play a critical role in developing cutting-edge navigation solutions for our customers.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced software engineer to design, develop, and deploy novel navigation algorithms for real-time fielded execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advanced technical fields, such as electrical engineering, computer engineering, or aerospace engineering, and experience with programming languages like C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.

Responsibilities:
  • Deploy novel navigation algorithms for optimal estimation and signal processing on various computing architectures for real-time fielded execution.
  • Integrate sensors and computing platforms over various electrical interfaces.
  • Enhance navigation software frameworks with new capabilities by supporting design, coding, and peer reviews for new software modules.
  • Perform code profiling and software optimization to ensure real-time execution.
  • Work within a team of 3-5 engineers to test algorithms on demonstration hardware.
  • Travel with the team to demonstrate systems in real-world conditions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an advanced technical field and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or master's degree with 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience programming real-time navigation software in C/C++ with additional experience in Python or MATLAB.
  • Linux operating system expertise.
  • Experience interfacing with navigation sensors over various interface protocols.
  • Experience with building and deploying software in container environments.
  • Experience developing navigation simulation environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or PhD degree in an advanced technical field.
  • Experience interfacing to sensors such as inertial sensors, GPS, magnetometers, altimeters, cameras, etc.
  • Experience deploying navigation algorithms to real-time applications.
  • Experience with Linux, C++, and/or Python.
  • Experience with version control tools, especially Git and Gitlab.
  • Experience with autonomous system development through robotics competitions.
What We Offer:

Leidos offers a competitive salary range of $81,000 to $146,875.00, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
