We are seeking a highly skilled Battery Product Design Engineer to join our team at Meta. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative battery solutions that meet the demands of our cutting-edge products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Battery Pack Integration: Own the design and release of battery pack integration, ensuring seamless integration with our products.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering Teams: Work closely with product engineering teams to define cell and pack requirements, driving the best options for product volume, weight, and run time.
  • Design and Develop Battery Solutions: Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements.
  • Confer with Engineers and Teams: Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Recommend Design Modifications: Suggest design modifications to eliminate mechanical, machine, and system malfunctions.
  • Conduct Research and Analysis: Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, mechanical soundness, design, operation, and performance of equipment, components, and systems.
  • Develop Test and Validation Plans: Develop test and validation plans for manufacturing and characterizing battery packs.
  • Support Module and System Reliability Testing: Support module and system reliability testing with internal and external organizations.
  • Provide Build Support: Provide build support during New Product Introduction activities to ensure that manufacturing processes meet design intent.
  • Work with Cross-Functional Partners: Work with safety, reliability, operations, and other cross-functional partners to integrate the battery into the final system.
  • Perform Design for Manufacturability and Assembly Reviews: Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews with suppliers.
  • Create Statistical Tolerance and Dimensioning Analyses: Create statistical tolerance, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing analyses.
  • Conduct Failure and Root Cause Analysis: Conduct rigorous failure, root cause, and corrective action analyses.
  • Communicate with Vendors: Communicate with cell/pack vendors for component and sub-assembly builds.
  • Support Final Assembly Activities: Support final assembly activities at supplier sites to ensure the proper integration of the battery into the final system.
  • Support Sourcing Team: Support the sourcing team on cost analysis, supplier audits, and market analysis.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a Related Field: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and 36 months of experience in job offered or in a related occupation. Foreign equivalent accepted.
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering and Battery Design: Experience must include 36 months involving the following: 1. Mechanical engineering with battery pack design and integration, 2. Design and release processes in 3D CAD packages, including Siemens NX, Teamcenter, SolidWorks, and Creo, 3. Li-ion cell design and the various processes involved in manufacturing lithium-ion battery cells and pack architectures, 4. High volume manufacturing programs and their milestones from Proof of Concept to Mass Production, 5. Plastic molded parts, sheet metal design, and CNC design rules, and 6. PCB/flex design and integration.
