About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Property Accountant to join our Property Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial reports and managing all accounting tasks for designated properties. Collaboration with the Rockford Development, Property Management, and Construction Management teams will be essential to achieve company goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and adjust month-end financial statements; compile month-end reporting packages for assigned properties, including financial summaries.
  • Generate asset management reports, including cash-flow forecasts, capital expenditures, and rent rolls.
  • Maintain schedules for balance sheet accounts.
  • Contribute to annual budget development, year-end financial statements, and tax accounting workpapers.
  • Assist with annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations.
  • Prepare cash calls for partners.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and manage security deposit accounting during tenant move-outs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Generate monthly rent charges and other necessary ad-hoc charges for tenants and related parties.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables, coordinate collection efforts with management, and record tenant and miscellaneous payments.
  • Review and authorize invoices for weekly payments.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience across multiple entities.
  • Strong analytical skills and effective communication abilities with various levels of management, clients, investors, and staff.
  • Experience with accounting software; familiarity with Yardi is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in dynamic environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong business acumen.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in real estate tax accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
