The Agricultural Technical Paraprofessional will play a crucial role in the operational management of field production related to ornamental nursery crops, while also supporting greenhouse activities. This position is integral to the ornamental plant breeding program.
Key Responsibilities:- Field Management: Oversee the management of research plots, ensuring maintenance tasks such as mowing, weed control, and plant care are performed efficiently.
- Equipment Maintenance: Responsible for the upkeep of field equipment including mowers, sprayers, and other essential tools.
- Greenhouse Operations: Assist in the maintenance and organization of greenhouse facilities, ensuring cleanliness and operational efficiency.
- Research Support: Collaborate in research planning, execution, and data collection to support ongoing projects.
The ideal candidate will possess technical knowledge in agriculture, which may be acquired through an apprenticeship, a two-year degree, or a professional certification. Strong skills in landscape management and equipment troubleshooting are essential.
Physical Requirements:This role requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
