Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Hillsborough County. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with parents, department team members, and general education staff to create and implement IEPs that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Provide Instruction and Support: Design and deliver instruction, both individual and small group, that parallels the general education curriculum, and provide tutorial assistance and consultation to general education staff.
  • Assess and Monitor Student Progress: Regularly assess students' skills and educational needs, track their progress, and participate in review and revision of IEPs as necessary.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date student records, including IEPs, progress reports, and other relevant documentation.
  • Communicate with Parents and Staff: Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff through regular communication, including progress updates and consultation.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, and valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year experience in a teaching environment, preferably in special education.
  • Skills and Qualifications: State Teacher Certification, Type: Standard Elementary Teaching, Standard Secondary Teaching, and Standard Special Teaching; Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1); proficiency in English language; computer proficiency; and ability to effectively elicit and provide information to and from appropriate individuals.
