This is a union position that involves repairing and maintaining vehicles, mechanical equipment, and machinery used for construction and maintenance of energy service and facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for updating and completing monthly reports and maintaining fleet department accounts payable. Additionally, they will lead the coordination of vehicle, equipment, and machinery design and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
• Repairs or replaces defective parts on vehicles, machinery, and mechanical and hydraulic equipment
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoist, hand tools, and power tools
• Operates machinery and equipment for set up and road test
• Performs repair and maintenance work on mechanical hand hydraulic machinery and equipment as required
• Observes mechanical and hydraulic machinery and equipment in operations and diagnosis trouble
• Performs welding, maintenance, and fabrication work on transformers, switch gears, gates, pole racks, trucks, mounted equipment, etc.
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED with five to seven years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• Must possess a current, legally valid driver's license and meet the company's driving record requirements
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Work Environment
The successful candidate will work in a workshop environment and will be exposed to shop hazards such as power machinery, paint and solvent fumes, and toxic cleaning chemicals. The ability to stand, walk, and stoop up to 2/3 of the time and sit up to 1/3 of the time is required. Good vision and ability to adjust focus is required. Manual dexterity is required. Ability to carry, reach, and handle items. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
