Job Summary

Cayuga Medical Center seeks a highly skilled Gastroenterologist to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As a key member of our medical staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality medical care to patients with gastrointestinal disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Patient Care
    • Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and assessments to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal conditions.
    • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for patients, taking into account their unique needs and medical histories.
    • Prescribe medication and other appropriate therapies to manage symptoms and promote healing.
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging to inform treatment decisions.
    • Perform medical procedures and surgeries when necessary, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care.
    • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to optimize outcomes.
    • Provide patient education and support to empower patients to take an active role in their care.
  2. Communication
    • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure seamless care coordination and patient satisfaction.
  3. Documentation
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in a timely fashion, adhering to medical standards and regulations.
  4. Clinical Expertise
    • Stay current with the latest medical research, treatments, and technologies to provide evidence-based care.
    • Participate in continuing medical education (CME) and peer review activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
    • Collaborate with other specialists and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and outcomes.
    • Work collaboratively with Advanced Practice Providers to ensure comprehensive care.
    • Participate in the education of clinical learners (residents, APP students, etc.) to foster the next generation of healthcare professionals.
  5. Quality and Safety
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
    • Ensure safe care is provided to all patients, adhering to medical standards and regulations.
  6. Ethical and Professional Standards
    • Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards of medical practice, upholding patient confidentiality and privacy.
    • Comply with all relevant laws and regulations, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school required.
  • Must have successfully completed a residency or fellowship commensurate with the area of specialty.
  • Be board certified or eligible in the appropriate specialty, by a board acceptable to Cayuga Medical Center.
  • Obtain and maintain an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
  • Obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the Health system.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the applicable state required.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based medicine.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and CME.
