Salary Information:

The hourly wage for this position ranges from $26 to $28.29 per hour. We believe that fair compensation is essential in attracting and retaining top talent, which is why we offer a competitive salary package.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Para Transit Driver, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle and on-board equipment are in proper working condition
  • Performing scheduled manifests, transfers, and fare structures for assigned routes
  • Referring to and implementing route maps, time schedules, and instructions for pull-outs, line service, pull-ins, and off-route trips
  • Providing schedule, route, and fare information to passengers seeking assistance
  • Operating wheelchair lifts and assisting handicapped passengers in a safe and respectful manner
  • Communicating effectively with dispatch via two-way radio
  • Reporting hazardous or dangerous conditions along bus routes and at passenger loading zones
  • Adjusting to variables in normal working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic, and construction
  • Adhering to safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure the wellbeing of customers
  • Maintaining a safe work environment while complying with all safety rules, polices, and procedures
  • Mentoring new drivers about bus routes and operating procedures (as required)
  • Providing assistance in controlling accident or incident scenes
  • Supporting vacation and temporary relief as needed
  • Performing other related duties similar in nature and level as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Knowledge of State and local traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involved in the operation of vehicles; vehicle safety rules and regulation
  • Knowledge of basic money and time concepts
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Basic English
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively
  • A valid DOT medical card and DOT Drug Screen
  • One year passenger driving experience
  • No convictions of driving while suspended or revoked
  • Ability to work varying shifts based on seniority
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to complete tasks in a safe and alert manner
  • Capacity to work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors
