Key Responsibilities:

The Safety and Security Specialist I serves as the primary line of defense for safety and security within facilities managed by the Seattle Children's Security Department. In this capacity, Security Specialists are tasked with maintaining a visible presence at all public access points and lobby areas to deter, identify, prevent, respond to, and document any issues or incidents that may jeopardize the safety and welfare of patients, families, visitors, staff members, and property. This is achieved through the application of established protocols, emergency response procedures, and non-violent crisis intervention techniques.

Security Specialists in this role support various situations, including but not limited to:

  • Fire emergencies
  • Hazardous material spills
  • Disaster response
  • Medical emergencies
  • Safety assistance
  • Missing child incidents
  • Active shooter scenarios
  • Bomb threats
  • Assisting individuals in distress or escalating situations
  • Addressing unauthorized individuals attempting to enter the premises with potential criminal intent, such as vandalism, theft, or assault.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years in Customer Service or Security Services

Required Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of employment
  • CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of employment (Annual Requirement)
  • Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of employment
  • Completion of Seattle Children's Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification

Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $30.76
Annual Salary Range: $42,000 - $63,980.80

Salary Information:
This compensation range is based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are influenced by various factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the stated range.
