Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in engineering tasks related to the design, construction, maintenance, and operational activities of our power generation facilities, transmission infrastructure, substations, distribution networks, gas systems, control centers, and more.
  • Continuously monitor and balance energy distribution while addressing system disturbances, overseeing all activities related to generation, distribution, and transmission that deliver electric and gas services to our clientele.

The Engineering Associate specializing in Communications Engineering and Maintenance is accountable for the secure, reliable, and economical design and upkeep of our operational technology (OT) communication networks and systems, including wireless and fiber optics. Responsibilities encompass engineering tasks for the planning, design, implementation, maintenance, and operational support of our OT communications infrastructure, which underpins transmission lines, substations, distribution networks, gas systems, generation facilities, emergency radio systems, control centers, data centers, and corporate networks.

Tasks and Duties:

Utilize established protocols and procedures to carry out assigned tasks under direct supervision.


• Limited financial responsibility.

• Assist in developing and implementing internal workflows.

• Support in gathering information for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Participate in seminars and continuing education opportunities for professional growth.

• Engage in other project and process enhancement initiatives as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution.

• Fundamental understanding of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.


• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, coordinating with related areas to complete tasks and projects.


• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of personnel within the organization.

• Capacity to manage multiple work activities with minimal supervision and prioritize workload efficiently.

• Initiative to identify needs and apply research skills to resolve issues as necessary.

• Willingness to participate in on-call duties and occasional unscheduled work during evenings, weekends, or holidays as experience allows.

• Ability to travel occasionally for off-site work, seminars, and inspections.

• Eligibility to obtain a Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, email, and scheduling tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineer In Training (EIT) designation from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers.

• Basic experience with electric distribution or transmission systems.

• Technical writing experience or coursework in technical writing.

• Familiarity with Computer Aided-Drafting systems and Bentley Microstation software.

• Knowledge of ESRI GIS software and Arc FM Designer software.

• Experience with SAP and Work Manager software.
