Position Overview:

The Practical Nursing Specialist delivers compassionate and safe nursing care to patients, including the administration of medications, performing venipuncture, and other essential tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial patient assessments in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform age-specific evaluations, including vital signs and developmental assessments.
  • Administer medications accurately across various age demographics.
  • Adhere to the care plan, monitor patient progress, and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Assist physicians during examinations.
  • Document care provided and patient responses thoroughly.
  • Identify and react appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families.
  • Communicate health information to patients in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Develop educational materials and plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Responsible for fulfilling all patient care responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Initiate referrals to multidisciplinary teams as required.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality.
  • Follow established safety and security protocols.
  • Delegate care tasks when suitable.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members.
  • Be open to additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited LPN/LVN nursing program.
  • Current CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Possess a valid LPN license in the State of Louisiana.
  • Experience in collaborative healthcare teams is essential.
  • Preferred experience in ambulatory care settings.
Supervision:

No supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands:
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination are necessary.
  • Physical activities include lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, standing, and walking.
Work Environment:
  • Work in an indoor, climate-controlled environment.
  • Potential exposure to diseases or infections.
  • No exposure to vibrations or outdoor weather conditions.
