Overview:

Position Title:
Vocational Nurse - Medical Standards Management

Hours of Operation:
The operational hours of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) are as follows:
Standard business hours are Monday through Friday. Inpatient units, Emergency Services, and ancillary departments function on a continuous 24/7 basis.

The Contractor's work week will not exceed 40 hours (standard schedule) or 80 hours over a two-week period (alternative work schedule).


Scheduling:

Schedule Overview:
The typical duty schedule is either Monday-Friday or flexible shifts.

Flexible shifts are implemented to meet mission requirements rather than Contractor preference and must receive approval from the Government Supervisor and the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).

Flexible shifts may consist of 8, 9, or 10-hour shifts and will not exceed 80 hours in a two-week pay period. Schedule modifications will be communicated by the Government Supervisor two weeks prior to the new schedule taking effect.

Compensation:
Starting at $31.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Duties:


Deliver assigned patient care based on individual patient conditions, utilizing judgment to select the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, while accurately recognizing, reporting, and documenting relevant patient information.

Initiate, execute, and complete assigned responsibilities in providing care to diverse patient populations.
Observe, identify, and respond to patient care needs, including medication administration, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education.
Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous) and perform treatments in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance from the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Medical Doctor (MD)/Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.

Assist with complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, aiding in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during, and after the procedure.

Orient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies, procedures, skills, and standards of practice.

Integrate principles of a healthy work environment that lead to enhanced patient healthcare delivery, education for patients and their families, and employee satisfaction.

Engage in Flight and Operational Medicine Clinic (FOMC) activities, including but not limited to patient care, meetings, administrative tasks, and training as required.

Participate in Base Operational Medicine Clinic (BOMC) activities, including but not limited to patient care, meetings, administrative tasks, and training as required.


Qualifications:

Education:


Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program recognized by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the national accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant, or a graduate from any military equivalent technical training school.


Certifications beyond Basic Life Support:
None.

Experience:
One year of practical or vocational nursing experience post-graduation.

Board Certification:
None

Licensure/Registration:
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse.
