Key Responsibilities
- Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures at a technical level, utilizing equipment and guidelines set by the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
- Conduct exams as requested by physicians, documenting the presence, location, and severity of cardiac disease.
- Provide quantitative comparisons for evaluation of cardiac disease stability, improvement, and deterioration.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and record patient identification.
- Explain testing procedures to patients, ensuring cooperation and reducing anxiety.
- Prepare and position patients for testing.
- Attach electrodes to patients' chests, arms, and legs, connecting them to leads from the echo machine.
- Adjust equipment and controls according to physicians' orders or established protocol.
- Perform 2-dimensional, m-mode, color Doppler, and pulsed wave/continuous Doppler echocardiograms.
- Recognize and provide detailed exams of specific heart defects during the study.
- Monitor patients' comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities.
- Observe video screens of data analysis systems during imaging of the cardiovascular system.
- Provide obtained measurements of 2-D, color Doppler, and pulsed wave/continuous Doppler.
- Chart reports after physician interpretation.
- Clean, check, and maintain cardiology equipment.
Qualifications
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or CCI in Pediatric or Adult Echocardiography.
- Graduate of a program in Echocardiography approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or documented equivalent education, experience, and training.
- Previous experience performing pediatric echocardiography procedures is preferred.
Working Conditions
- Perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling.
- Travel to satellite locations on company buses.
- Load and unload echo equipment on and off buses.
