SciTech Services, Inc. is in search of a Clinical Veterinarian with expertise in biomedical research to ensure the optimal health and welfare of a variety of research animals. The role involves providing comprehensive Animal Husbandry and Research Support Services while managing all aspects of veterinary care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated experience in the care of diverse animal species, including but not limited to Non-Human Primates (NHP), rodents, rabbits, swine/mini-swine, ferrets, and guinea pigs.
- Deliver veterinary services, surgical procedures, anesthesia, clinical care, and preventive health support.
- Act as a technical authority and provide guidance on the development of facility protocols.
- Facilitate professional development training for staff, focusing on veterinary diagnostics, techniques, and minor surgical interventions.
- Offer health care recommendations for veterinary services personnel.
- Ensure the preparation and submission of reports, data, and case materials as required.
- Engage in responses to both internal and external veterinary or animal welfare inspections and quality assurance audits.
- Support Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) activities, including protocol and program reviews, as well as facility inspections.
- Draft, review, and update veterinary care or necropsy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Oversee compliance with all relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards pertaining to animal care.
- Advise on the establishment or enhancement of animal care standards.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with completion of a Laboratory Animal Residency program, and eligibility for Diplomate, American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DACLAM) at the time of award.
- Required experience in animal biomedical research.
- Familiarity with Federal, state, and National Institutes of Health (NIH) regulations and policies to ensure compliance and AAALAC accreditation.
- Experience in providing training related to animal care operations.
- Understanding of IACUC functions concerning protocol development and review, periodic monitoring assessments, and medical interpretation of clinical data.
- Expertise in regulatory requirements for maintaining animal medical records.
- Experience in animal health surveillance and quality assurance procedures related to monitoring and interpreting animal health and environmental results.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles.
