We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Staff Engineer to lead our team in developing the Nutanix Database Service (NDB), a cutting-edge DBaaS product for on-premise customers. Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Lead technical direction for major product areas of the Nutanix Database Service (NDB).
  • Design and Development: Drive the design for scalable, modular, and extensible components and define future technical vision for the product.
  • Customer Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of customer use cases and design innovative solutions for customer requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with tech leads, engineers, and product management to deliver high-quality features in a fast-paced environment.
  • UX Partnership: Work closely with the UX team to provide customers a simple and delightful experience.
  • Architecture Alignment: Collaborate with other product architects at Nutanix and ensure alignment with the overall Nutanix vision.
  • Communication: Write whitepapers and blogs, file patents, and represent Nutanix in external seminars.
  • Mentorship: Coach/Mentor Staff Engineers in the team to enable them to grow to the next level.
Requirements
  • Experience: Experience working with and building on hybrid multi-cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Database Knowledge: Experience working with databases is a plus (Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Programming Skills: Experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, Go, Python.
  • Container and Kubernetes: Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes.
  • Storage, Networking, and Virtualization: Experience developing storage, networking, and virtualization products.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required. Advanced degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • Experience: Experience of 15+ years developing highly scalable and available software.

Compensation

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $213,600 and USD $427,200 per year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
