Job Summary:
Christus Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in Lab-Chemistry. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for analyzing specimens, applying test procedures, and reporting results to enable clinicians to perform accurate patient assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze specimens according to laboratory procedures and policies, ensuring the appropriateness of the sample.
- Accurately apply test procedures, confirm unusual results, and review and report all results according to laboratory policy.
- Meet CLIA '88 requirements for performing high complexity testing as defined in the Federal Register, Vol. 57; #40, Subpart 493.1489.
- Operate laboratory equipment and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with clinicians and other laboratory staff to ensure accurate patient assessments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent required.
- CLS (NCA), MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification as a medical technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist required.
- Graduates who are Registry eligible may be considered for employment, prior to receiving ASCP or equivalent certification.
- One year of general laboratory experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, carcinogenic, hazardous and flammable chemicals, biohazardous and radioactive materials, sharp needles and blades, infectious specimens, toxic fumes, and mental stress.
- May be required to wear gloves, laboratory coat, facemask, goggles.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, sit, and/or ambulate for the entire shift assigned.
- Ability to move laboratory supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds.
