POSITION SUMMARY
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) plays a vital role within the Nursing Department, holding responsibility for the comprehensive nursing care of surgical patients. Utilizing established hospital policies, guidelines, and AORN standards, the OR RN is dedicated to delivering safe and effective care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage intraoperative patient care by applying the nursing process, demonstrating independent judgment, and employing critical thinking skills.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with all members of the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesia providers, and support staff.
- Develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs and the specific requirements of the surgical team.
- Continuously monitor and assess patient conditions, adjusting care plans as necessary in accordance with AORN standards.
- Recognize and respond promptly to any complications or emergencies that may arise during surgical procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Completion of an accredited nursing program is mandatory.
- Current CPR certification from an AHA-approved provider.
- Active RN licensure.
- Prior experience in the operating room is preferred.
