Job Overview

At American Hardwood Industries, we are seeking a highly skilled Concentration Yard Manager to oversee the kiln operation and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage kiln operation in the areas of safety, production, maintenance, profitability, and quality.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve overall plant performance.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for safety, production, profitability, and quality standards.
  • Oversee location activities to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure the safe operation of kiln operations and maintain the facility in accordance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Manage capital asset maintenance for the operation.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime and repair expenses.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
  • Provide direction, development, and leadership to location workforce.
  • Encourage and foster a sense of high, positive morale among the workforce.

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree, preferably in Forest or Wood Products.
  • At least 5 years of hardwood lumber inventory or manufacturing experience.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook. SAP experience a plus.
  • Organize multiple work assignments and establish priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, sometimes after hours.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
