This position is a unique opportunity to join the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION team as a Staff Psychologist-Psychotherapist. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide a full range of psychological services to support the mental health and well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide psychological assessment, diagnostic, and evidence-based treatment services to patients with a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and substance use disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs and goals of each patient.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and support to patients and their families.
- Conduct research activities, such as designing and implementing clinical research projects, to improve the delivery of mental health services and advance the field of psychology.
- Provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare professionals on mental health topics and evidence-based treatments.
- Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA).
- Successful completion of a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed.
- Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, and to work effectively in a team-based environment.
- Experience working with patients with complex mental health needs, including those with PTSD, substance use disorders, and other co-occurring conditions.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-focused CBT.
- Experience conducting research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
