Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Administrative Support Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our Switchboard Department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to our clients, staff, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Answer and transfer incoming and outgoing calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Greet visitors and guests, and provide assistance as needed.
  • Locate staff members and Spanish Interpreter Team members for TSH staff, as requested.
  • Receive and facilitate emergency calls, including fire, disaster, and medical emergencies.
  • Keep accurate records in logbooks and maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Dispatch transportation and security services as needed.
  • Work harmoniously with clients, their families, and staff to provide exceptional customer service.
Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of telephone switchboard and radio dispatch operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role.
  • Knowledge of agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift open an overhead rolling security screen on the switchboard window.
