HVAC Systems Specialist

This position is responsible for performing journey-level installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems and be able to troubleshoot and repair complex issues.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on all HVAC installations, fire and boiler alarm and surveillance control systems (high and low pressure)
- Define and implement preventive maintenance programs for motors, steam condensate return traps, pumps, controls, compressors, auxiliary heating and cooling systems, and related devices
- Compile reports for changes, including reporting costs, estimating values, and justifying changes
- Review work of construction and maintain air distribution and balance systems
- Add chemicals and analyze water treatment for chill water and heating systems
- Plan and install auxiliary control systems
- Prepare system for winter carry-over and cold weather conditions
- Calibrate pipe and vent sizes
- May design and install sheet metal
- Install/inspect thermostats, and electrical wiring of furnaces, unit heaters, and cooling units
- Review new designs and concepts
- EPA universal certification for service technicians
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Quality control analysis
- Minimum qualifications: experience in charging, starting, and checking for proper operation of HVAC type equipment and related devices; troubleshooting and repairing digital electronic and pneumatic HVAC control systems; starting, stopping, and troubleshooting chiller operations and chilled water systems; modifying and/or installing natural gas and water piping; operating, maintaining, diagnosing problems, and repairing industrial type HVAC systems and control devices; performing basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and sheet metal work; welding and repairing material and brazing pipe; cutting, brazing and soldering high pressure refrigerant piping
- Required licenses: HVAC Journeyman Licensing, Universal Refrigerant Licensing, AND Driver's License
