Corrections Lieutenant

The Corrections Lieutenant is responsible for assessing, developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for staff at the facility. This position also involves supervising assigned training staff and contributing to the administration of the performance management system. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to read and interpret policies and procedures.

• Develop and deliver training programs for staff
• Supervise assigned training staff
• Contribute to the administration of the performance management system
• Conduct ongoing inspections to maintain security, sanitation, and good order of the institution
• Interact with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations

• Valid Driver's License
• Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Certification
• Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement
• Experience supervising corrections staff
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret policies and procedures

• Current DCJS General Instructor Certification in at least one area: Firearms, First Aid/CPR, and Defensive Tactics Certification
• Knowledge of adult training methods
• Demonstrated ability to produce written reports using a computer
• Experience delivering training in a criminal justice, corrections, or law enforcement environment
