Job Title: Critical Care Specialist

Description:

We are seeking a skilled Critical Care Specialist to join our team at One Brooklyn Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in treating patients with breathing difficulties due to heart or lung problems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer oxygen, gases, or aerosol treatments to patients using specialized equipment.
  • Select, assemble, and check the equipment used in respiratory therapy.
  • Collect, review, and maintain patient medical history and records.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and monitor patient treatment progress.
  • Educate patients and their families on the proper use of respiratory equipment.
  • Assist physicians with special procedures.
  • Conduct pulmonary function tests to assess lung function and draw blood samples for analysis.
  • Perform endotracheal intubations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree from an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy Program is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • No prior experience is necessary, but relevant education and training are essential.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to work in environments with dust, noise, and other potentially hazardous conditions without undue discomfort.
  • Capacity to hear, speak, walk, stand, bend, and stretch for extended periods.
  • Strong reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with patients and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with Kingsbrook/Rutland policies and procedures related to hazardous waste and materials.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • NYS Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist certification is mandatory.
  • BCLS Certification is also required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged standing, reaching, and walking throughout the working day.
  • Sometimes requires stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • May be required to handle heavy weights across distances or assist in lifting patients.
  • No routine exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue is expected.

Salary Range: The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
