Pig Farm Laborer

We are looking for a skilled Pig Farm Laborer to join our team at Smithfield Foods. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and are physically fit.

The Pig Farm Laborer will assist in routine animal care and general farm tasks, ensuring the well-being of the animals. This includes farm sanitation, animal removal, and animal movement. The successful candidate will also operate various farm equipment as directed and may be in training for advanced laborer designation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Feeds, waters, vaccinates, and performs general animal husbandry tasks, including basic veterinary procedures.
• Maintains flexibility with a willingness to change plans according to the direction of farm leadership.
• Assists in moving animals and maintaining efficient animal flows.
• Sanitizes and washes multiple areas on the farm using high-pressure equipment.
• Processes piglets, which includes injecting medications, castrating, docking tails, and ear notching.

Educational Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Previous livestock handling experience is helpful.
