Key Responsibilities- Communicate Effectively: Provide clear and concise communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Maintain a Clean and Safe Environment: Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and safe environment, minimizing hazards of infection or injury to patients and staff.
- Obtain and Document Vital Signs: Obtain basic physical assessment data, including vital signs, intake/output, and weights, and document in the patient's medical record.
- Provide Routine and Procedural Hygienic Needs: Provide routine and procedural hygienic needs to patients, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Assist with Patient Activities: Assist patients with elimination, comfort, and privacy needs, responding to patient requests.
- Assist with Physical Therapy Needs: Assist with performance of physical therapy needs, including range of motion, ambulation, transfers, and ADL training for home care.
- Demonstrate Competency in Unit Protocols: Demonstrate competency in unit protocols for performing EKGs, glucose monitoring, and other competencies as required.
- Document Care Provided: Document or report care provided, observations, and pertinent information to the nursing services.
- Prevent Nosocomial Infections: Assist in preventing nosocomial infections by adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment: Use personal protective equipment and comply with all universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, and specific isolation precautions.
- Complete Patient Care Assignments: Complete patient care assignments by the end of the shift or report status of care to the charge nurse.
- Maintain Patient Rounds: Make rounds on patients hourly, responding to requests promptly and courteously.
- Attend Mandatory In-Service Training: Attend all mandatory hospital-based in-service training on time.
- Assist with Orientation of New Staff: Assist with orientation of new unit personnel according to unit protocol.
- Attend Shift Meetings: Attend 80% of shift meetings, read and initial all meeting minutes.
- Complete Competencies: Complete all core and unit-specific competencies on time.
- Deliver High-Quality Healthcare Services: Assist in delivering high-quality healthcare services in a professional, compassionate, and courteous manner, respecting the dignity and individuality of each person who comes into contact with the organization.
- Education: Certification of nursing assistance required; High School Diploma or GED.
- Licensure and Certifications: BLS; CNA.
- Preferred Qualifications: At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
