Job Overview

Williamson Health is seeking a skilled Hospitalist to join our team. As a Hospitalist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, cost-effective, and evidence-based medical care to hospitalized patients. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to determine the best care plan for each patient and ensure timely admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, evaluate, and clinically manage patients to provide the level of care required by current clinical standards and operational efficiency.
  • Provide active management of patient's condition through diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic medical services, including histories and physical examinations.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to determine the best care plan for the hospitalized patient and initiate/oversee plans to meet the patient's needs.
  • Facilitate timely admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
  • Provide information, education, and support to patients and their family members, including involving them in care planning.
  • Prescribe or recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications.
  • Consult appropriate physician(s) for patient care needs.
  • Refer patients to appropriate sources of care as required and ensure timely referrals to a tertiary care facility, as indicated.
  • Communicate with the primary care physician or specialist as needed during admission and at discharge for optimal continuum of care.
  • Participate in the achievement of patient safety goals, quality measures, clinical outcomes, and financial performance consistent with Williamson Health objectives in areas such as clinical documentation, coding, timely charge entry, and order set development and revision.
  • Attend and participate in the hospital's Medicine Committee and Hospitalist Program Committee.
  • Maintain knowledge and proficiency in medical practices through continuing education, hospital conferences, and home study.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations such as Joint Commission and CMS Conditions of Participation.
Requirements
  • Current licensure by the State of Tennessee as a medical doctor or osteopathic physician.
  • Current DEA number.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationship, and apply sound administrative principles.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Current ACLS certification.
