About the Role

Spectrum's Product and Technology team is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer I to join our team of innovative professionals. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company's telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas.
  • Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
  • Test and review system designs.
  • Provide Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards, and documentation are met.
  • Mentor and guide the work of technical staff.
  • Review work plans and designs and advise on improvements.
  • Adhere to industry-specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
  • Know, understand, and follow company policy.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of engineering work experience.
  • 5+ years of project management work experience.
  • A Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards (IEEE, ANSI, Fiber, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology.
  • Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
  • Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support current operations.
  • Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances.
  • Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio.
  • Basic knowledge in connectivity technologies (Single mode/multi-mode fiber, DWDM/CWDM, UTP, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge in PON technologies (XGS PON, EPON, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Knowledge of company products and services.
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).
  • Industry and vendor-specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.).
