Position Summary

The 2D Visual Artist will be tasked with producing breathtaking 2D artwork that embodies the spirit of the Wuxia universe. This role demands an artist with a sharp eye for detail, a profound understanding of traditional Chinese artistry, and the capability to transform intricate concepts into captivating visual representations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conceptual Art Development: Generate intricate concept art for characters, environments, and essential visual components that resonate with the artistic vision of 9 Yin Sutra.
  • Illustrative Work: Produce high-quality 2D illustrations for in-game use, promotional content, and various media, ensuring all artwork reflects the cultural and historical significance of the Wuxia genre.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the art director, 3D artists, and other team members to guarantee visual coherence and support the overarching game design.
  • Design Iteration & Feedback: Engage in feedback sessions, refining designs based on insights from the art director and other stakeholders.
  • Artistic Techniques: Employ both traditional and digital painting methods to create artwork that is stylistically consistent and visually engaging.
  • Asset Development: Assist in the creation of 2D assets such as UI components, textures, and in-game illustrations, upholding high standards of quality and uniformity.

Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 3 years in 2D art or illustration within the gaming sector. Experience with Wuxia-themed projects is highly desirable.

Technical Proficiency: Expertise in industry-standard software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and other digital painting applications. Strong drawing, painting skills, and a solid grasp of color theory are essential.

Cultural Insight: A deep appreciation for and understanding of traditional Chinese art, history, and the Wuxia genre, with the ability to weave these elements into your creations.

Artistic Flexibility: Capability to work across various artistic styles, particularly those that reflect traditional Chinese aesthetics.

Portfolio Requirement: A robust portfolio showcasing relevant 2D art and illustration work, with examples that highlight your ability to produce detailed and culturally accurate artwork.

Compensation

$60,000 - $85,000 per year based on experience, including potential bonuses linked to project milestones and overall success.
