Job Title: Electromechanical PLC Technician

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL

Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire

Pay Rate: $39/hr plus overtime, shift differential ($1), and a quarterly bonus

Hours: 3pm to 11pm, with Overtime being 7pm - 7am as needed

Job Summary:

Under the general direction and supervision of Management, the Electromechanical PLC Technician will maintain, service, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and calibrate plant electrical and mechanical equipment and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solid state control systems, PLC programming, and HMI programming.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain work assignments and maintenance schedules from the Maintenance Manager or Production Supervisor
  • Regularly inspect and record the condition of electrical equipment, including motors, generators, control panels, systems, switches, lighting, circuits, and circuit breakers
  • Use electrical test equipment, drawings, electrical blueprints, wiring, and PLC schematic diagrams to install new equipment and diagnose problems with inoperative equipment
  • Perform temporary or permanent repairs, correct defective circuits, and repair motors, cranes, generators, and other equipment
  • Monitor, inspect, and calibrate computer relay systems, analyze, and make repairs on same
  • Train and assist in the development of Electricians in PLC and Electromechanical Systems
Requirements:
  • 4 Year Technical College degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Familiarity with solid state control systems
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working with PLC's and HMI programming
  • Knowledge of test equipment used for trouble-shooting systems
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, PLC programs, and act on them
  • Thorough knowledge of AC/DC equipment, motors, generators, control panels, switches, lighting circuit breakers, and relay systems, variable speed drives, and programmable controllers
  • Ability to troubleshoot, modify, and or re-write ladder logic programs within processors using RSLogix software
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot, repair or replace portions of, or entirety of, specialized electromechanical systems in hydro, hydraulic, or pneumatic equipment
  • Familiarity with all applicable codes and proper installation methods
