Job Title: Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at VCA. As a key member of our veterinary hospital, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering top-notch medical services.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians with patient exams, surgeries, and medical procedures
  • Provide compassionate care to patients, including cleaning, feeding, and administering medication
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, vaccination status, and laboratory results
  • Assist with laboratory tests, including phlebotomy and specimen collection
  • Prepare and administer medications, including flea preventatives and antibiotics
  • Participate in client communication and education, explaining treatment plans and providing guidance on animal care
  • Support front office staff with client check-in, scheduling, and billing
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; BS in Animal Science or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal care environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods
