This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced technician to join the NC Department of Transportation as a Vehicle Technician Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for performing complex mechanical repairs on a variety of equipment and vehicles.

The salary range for this position is $33,272 - $58,226 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a permanent full-time position with full benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid vacation and sick leave, and more.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing semi-skilled small engine, automotive and heavy equipment repair
  • Diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical systems using advanced diagnostic instruments and software
  • Determining materials, techniques and tools required for each work assignment

To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience in tire repair and replacement, preventive maintenance on light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment, as well as proficiency in using various tools and equipment. You must also be able to legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks and obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within 360 days of hire.
