Acute Inpatient Nursing Care Specialist

The Acute Inpatient Nursing Care Specialist provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting, fostering patient/family centered care. This role requires a strong understanding of evidence-based practices and the ability to demonstrate clinical competency in all areas of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for geriatric health and be able to incorporate knowledge of safety protocols, cost containment, and quality improvement throughout the nursing process. Additionally, this role requires the ability to identify patient, unit, and organizational priorities and incorporate them into the nursing process. The specialist will also adhere to all compliance and policy/procedures of the organization, including licensure renewal, assigned training, employee health screenings, time and attendance policy, dress code policy, patient confidentiality, infection control, medication administration, and regulatory agency requirements (TJC, SC DPH, CMS).
This is a non-management role that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements individualized plans of care based on patient needs
- Coordinates care with the healthcare team to ensure continuity and smooth transitions
- Provides direct care to assigned patients consistent with the established nursing plan
- Delegates tasks to members of the healthcare team as appropriate
- Monitors quality of care delivered and ensures adherence to patient care standards
- Evaluates plan of care for effectiveness and revises as needed
