Cardiac Sonographer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Wellstar Cobb Hospital. As a key member of our cardiovascular imaging department, you will be responsible for performing echocardiograms and other cardiac imaging procedures to help diagnose and treat patients with heart conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care: Verify proper clinician order for procedure, obtain complete clinical history, gather examination data, and assess for contraindicating conditions.
• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that equipment is fully operational prior to each use, by checking for proper calibration and operating deficiencies.
• Quality Control: Send all studies to PACS immediately after completion, print CDs as needed, and follow infection control policies.
• Education and Communication: Patiently and clearly explain purpose and nature of exam to patient prior to starting procedure, ensure that patient's questions, concerns, or contraindications are satisfactorily addressed, and participate in the orientation and training of departmental employees.

Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent from accredited program required, and graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or accredited Cardiovascular Technology program.
• Certifications: Registered Medical Sonographer or Reg Cardiac Sonographer - CCI or Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer, and Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association required.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in echocardiography preferred, or graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or accredited Cardiovascular Technology program preferred.
