Position Summary:
Are you proficient in creating vertical video content and deeply passionate about Black culture and current events? If you are already producing content on these topics that inspire you, Blavity Inc. is in search of a talented Social Producer to generate content centered on critical subjects such as cybersecurity, tech policy, venture capital, political influence, climate change, disinformation, and regulation. You will be responsible for crafting captivating vertical video content, collaborating closely with our Editorial and Digital Marketing teams. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with AfroTech's Content and Marketing teams on vertical video strategy, creation, and distribution.
  • Oversee the complete production process of social-first vertical video content, including conceptualization, filming, editing, and publishing timely videos to AfroTech's TikTok and Instagram channels.
  • Produce and publish a minimum of 4 videos weekly, focusing on current events and relevant content themes.
  • Engage with community members on assigned social media posts, ensuring all interactions reflect the brand's voice and values.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Not applicable.
  • Required Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in content creation and production.
    • Strong expertise in video editing for social media platforms.
    • Familiarity with analytics and listening tools.
    • Proven ability to write engaging social media copy for diverse audiences across various topics.
    • An online portfolio showcasing the required experience.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Strong understanding of design principles to create visually appealing and effective work.
    • 2+ years of content development experience targeting Gen Z and Millennial demographics.
    • In-depth knowledge of pop culture and topics including tech news and policy, political influence, and trending social issues.
  • Technologies: Proficient in TikTok, InShot or Capcut, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Asana, and/or similar project management tools.
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • A keen interest in viral marketing and social media trends.
    • Knowledge of and experience with established and emerging social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X.
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
    • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit with a willingness to take on significant responsibilities.
    • Ability to clearly articulate project needs and timelines.
    • Positive, high-energy attitude; motivated to excel in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent communication and analytical skills; sociable and outgoing; adaptable to various roles.
    • Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on documentation and communication.
    • A genuine appreciation for GIFs and Black culture.

Additional Information:

  • This is a fully remote position. Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Candidates should be available to work primarily in alignment with the Pacific Time Zone.
  • The hourly compensation for this role is $35.
