Staff RN Critical Care- PACU Room Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff RN Critical Care- PACU Room to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Job Summary:The Staff RN Critical Care- PACU Room will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This individual will work closely with the healthcare team to ensure that patients receive the best possible care during their recovery from general anesthesia.
Responsibilities:- Uses nursing process, evidence-based practice, and unit-specific competencies to complete admission assessments, document plans of care, delegate patient care, evaluate patient care, and reassess patients as needed.
- Communicates patient care needs, expectations, and priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), unit coordinators, and allied health personnel.
- Effectively relates and interacts with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Manages patient care through prescribing, delegating, and coordinating care for patients, conducting care conferences, participating in clinical rounds, and organizing and prioritizing care.
- Maintains professional standards by setting professional goals and participating in activities to meet goals.
- Adheres to unit/department budgetary standards by performing daily staffing and scheduling within budget parameters.
- Participates in unit maintenance activities, including Pyxis and charge data collection, infection control activities, point-of-care testing, e-Chart education, and safety and quality activities.
- Participates in Patient Care Services and Hospital activities, including policy/procedure review and revision, Helping Hand review and revision, committee attendance and participation, patient/family advocacy, and shared governance.
- Participates in educational activities, including peer review, serving as a preceptor/clinical resource, orientation and continuing education, clinical competency assessment, and planning and presenting classes.
- Accepts and supports change in a positive manner.
- Participates in research, patient safety, and quality improvement activities.
- Practices professional nursing in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
- Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
- Current CPR certification. Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP and PALS certification as determined by your manager.
- BSN; Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
- PALS: within one year of hire for PACU RNs.
- Typing on computer: Constantly.
- Using phone: Frequently.
- Sitting: Frequently.
- Standing: Occasionally.
- Lifting: Occasionally.
- Walking: Frequently.
Must be able to independently lift up to 35 lbs. Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.
