Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Aerial Construction Specialist to join our team. As an essential member of our crew, you will be responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining HFC (hybrid fiber coax) plant and FTTH plant infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities
  • BUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE: Construct outside plant Aerial/UG network infrastructure, working on a crew to build, repair, and maintain HFC and FTTH plant infrastructure.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform maintenance and repair tasks on HFC and FTTH plant infrastructure, including investigating and repairing cut fiber optic cables or impairments.
  • Cable Installation: Install cable in underground and/or overhead environments using most recent company specifications and industry standards.
  • Trenching and Backfill: Dig trenches, fill ditches, bury cable, place cable in trenches, and through conduit.
  • EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION: Install equipment used to house HFC & FTTH equipment, ground plant, or place rod or wire to serve as ground for future installations.
  • TEAMWORK: Work with other Construction Technicians, in-house Technicians, as well as third-party contractors in the performance of their duties.
  • SAFETY PROTOCOLS: Perform traffic control and/or flagging as necessary, load and unload cable equipment and tools, read system prints, and calculate signal losses from all cable lines and devices, using signal level meter.

Requirements
  • EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent work experience is required. Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within company required standards is also mandatory.
  • EXPERIENCE: 2+ years construction work experience is preferred, especially in utility/electrical/telecom knowledge or experience.
  • SPECIFIC SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and speak English, use hand tools, electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, safely use weight-bearing equipment, use personal computer and software applications, accurately measure distances, carry, climb, and operate extension ladder, climb poles using gaffs, hooks, and climbing belt as needed, differentiate between different sizes, types, and colors of wires, make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting, operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position, perform job from high places, work while standing 50-70% of the time, work with small components and wires to make cable connections, use handheld communication devices and applications, adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies, dig in all types of soil, drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, operate machinery used for underground/overhead cable installation, prioritize and organize effectively, read general system layouts from blueprints, work independently and on a crew, have knowledge of traditional fiber architectures, Fiber Plant maintenance, Fusion splicers and related equipment, basic mathematics and electronics, company products and services, National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code and OSHA.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on location and experience. Our comprehensive pay and benefits package includes competitive salary, health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and opportunities for career growth and advancement.
