Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Noise Engineer to join our team at Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough noise impact assessments and devising tailored abatement measures for transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct noise impact assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies for transportation projects.
  • Generate detailed reports adhering to regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Engage in fieldwork and travel to assess noise levels and evaluate project sites.
  • Analyze noise monitoring data and create accurate computer models from design data.
  • Evaluate traffic noise impacts and design optimal configurations for sound barriers.
  • Review project plans and quantities to ensure accuracy and compliance with acoustical standards.
  • Craft comprehensive reports to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in adhering to formal regulatory and policy criteria, ensuring project compliance.
  • Experience in obtaining, analyzing, and documenting sound-level data accurately.
  • Skilled in engineering design, particularly within transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of conducting transportation noise studies, from scoping to reporting, and coordinating with clients.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a Master's Degree in Acoustics / Acoustical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in applied acoustical engineering, including post-graduate study.
  • Transportation noise experience required: roadway, aircraft noise or train/railway noise.
  • Strong familiarity with FHWA Traffic Noise Model (FHWA TNM v2.5) and formal training in its application required.
  • Proficiency in engineering drawing software (OpenRoads, Microstation, Geopak, AutoCAD, etc.), ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office applications.
Work Environment

This position involves working in a fast-paced office environment with occasional fieldwork and travel. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. During fieldwork, the job involves moderate physical activity like walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Inspectors may lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds occasionally. They work in different environments with loud noise, dust, dirt, and changing temperatures. Inspectors need to move skillfully around construction sites and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures.
