The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating and addressing the physical, emotional, and educational needs of patients. This role involves planning and delivering physical therapy interventions based on physician referrals or direct access protocols. Additionally, the Physical Therapist plays a vital role in educating both students and the community about physical therapy practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing patient goals and needs to provide tailored care through comprehensive evaluations and treatment planning in collaboration with healthcare providers.
  • Implementing manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilizations and soft tissue manipulation, while guiding patients in therapeutic exercises and daily activities.
  • Utilizing various physical therapy modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation to enhance pain management and functional recovery.
  • Monitoring patient progress and making necessary adjustments to treatment plans based on ongoing evaluations.
  • Coordinating discharge planning by engaging with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Designing home exercise programs and providing education to patients and caregivers to facilitate recovery post-discharge.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of patient care and treatment outcomes in electronic medical records.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of an accredited physical therapy program at the Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate level.
  • Must fulfill annual mandatory training and safety in-services.
  • Licensure: Valid New York State Physical Therapy license.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
