Maintenance Mechanic Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for repairing equipment breakdowns, performing mechanical preventive maintenance, and conducting major mechanical overhauls of machinery and equipment. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of time and material used for all assignments and entering the information into the Maintenance system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Repair equipment breakdowns, including welding, plumbing, acetylene cutting, bearing replacement, seals, shafts, and other mechanic malfunctions.
  • Perform mechanical preventive maintenance of all production equipment.
  • Conduct major mechanical overhauls of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of time and material used for all assignments.
  • Enter information into the Maintenance system.
  • Assume responsibility for housekeeping in the Maintenance area, maintaining a level consistent with 6S standards.
  • Strictly observe Prysmian's safety rules and any special safety rules that apply to equipment unique to Maintenance.
  • Remind contractors and visitors of their responsibility to comply with all Prysmian Group safety rules and any applicable regulations.
  • Participate as fill-in for absences caused by vacation/illness, including weekends and all shifts as required.
  • Work overtime as needed.
Requirements:
  • Experience in machining, welding, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to use a variety of power tools.
  • Ability to read and understand diagrams and blueprints to evaluate the correct procedures to follow.
  • Well-organized and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work in a hot, cold, dirty, and fast-paced environment.
