About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemist I Absorbent to join our team at BASF Corporation. As a key member of our Adsorbents Evaluation Lab, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of adsorbent testing programs, driving innovation and excellence in our R&D group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and execute experiments to evaluate adsorbents for purification of gaseous feedstocks, and drive the effort of designing, building, and modifying test units to evaluate adsorbents under realistic commercial conditions.
  • Work closely with your supervisor and team members to conduct project planning, target setting, and project coordination, ensuring timely completion of projects within budget and meeting project goals and timelines.
  • Drive customer-centric solutions to adsorbent-related problems, focusing on customer needs and developing solutions to improve adsorbent design, process conditions, or post-mortem adsorbent studies.
  • Coordinate and supervise laboratory technician activities, providing coaching, goal setting, and development to maximize their potential.
  • Protect and maintain intellectual property, staying up-to-date with relevant publications and patent applications, and submitting invention records based on new experimental findings.
  • Lead and support various EHS initiatives within the adsorbent evaluation laboratory and the site, including writing job safety analyses, conducting safety reviews, participating in safety inspections, and conducting incident investigations.
Requirements
  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science with at least 3 years of related experience, or MS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science with 5+ years of related experience, or BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science with 8+ years of related experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of research principles and techniques, with proven ability to work outside field(s) of specialization, and familiarity with adsorption processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, data analysis, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong digitalization skills, with proficiency in the Microsoft platform.
