About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Transmission Relay and SCADA Support team at Oncor Electric Delivery. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing in-house support to Transmission Operations, including the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment and relaying schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to field personnel, including the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment and relaying schemes.
  • Support System Protection engineers in testing new relaying schemes and developing testing procedures for these new designs prior to field deployment.
  • Work closely with vendors and manufacturers to research, develop, and implement new technology, both hardware and software.
  • Develop and/or review written standard protective relaying scheme procedures for work in power plant switchyards, major transmission stations, sensitive customer-serving substations, and other substation locations as appropriate to support commissioning and maintenance testing.
  • Test and support various software applications on P&C Engineering Specialist laptops as needed.
  • Assist in the development of P&C Engineering Specialist training, held once yearly for all P&C Engineering Specialist and twice a year for new P&C Engineering Specialist, as well as on-demand training development.
  • Support compliance with NERC (protection and control) -002, PRC-004, and PRC-018 by providing technical support, including coordination with other departments, during investigations into relay events.
  • Assist in documentation of development and implementation of appropriate Corrective Action Plans to correct specific relay misoperations by compliance deadlines.
  • Support NERC CIP (critical infrastructure protection) Cyber Security compliance, specific to substation requirements, by providing technical input into internal procedure development, execution, and documentation as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 6+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • TX Professional Engineering License.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing and oral communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to support IT in the installation and troubleshooting P&C Engineering Specialist computer software.
  • Ability to work effectively across disciplines and functions to achieve common goals and company business purposes.
