As a key member of the Bon Secours team, the Certified Surgical Technologist - Perioperative Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, clinical operations, and communication skills to effectively collaborate with surgeons, staff, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Rounds daily in the operating room to communicate with surgeons and staff, obtaining updates to preference cards and ensuring seamless execution of surgical procedures.
- Works collaboratively with Clinical Coordinators to maintain and update preference cards, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Maintains direct communication with surgeons, coordinators, and leads of specialty lines, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and execution of surgical procedures.
- Works with stakeholders to define resources for cases, identifying cost-effective materials and supplies to optimize surgical procedures.
- Reviews the surgical schedule, collaborating with Clinical Coordinators to ensure appropriate cards are updated, and supply chain, SPD, and pharmacy have necessary resources available.
- Facilitates supplier/vendor changes, working with supply chain, vendors, surgeons, and OR staff to coordinate new product trials and conversion efforts in a logical manner.
- Maintains a progress record pertaining to core activities for reporting and facilitating system-wide improvements.
- Required Minimum Education: Vocational/Technical Degree
- Specialty/Major: Surgical Tech Program
- Licensure/Certification Required: Completion of Surgical Technologist Program
- Required: Active Certified Surgical Technologist Certification
- Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 3 years of experience in a peri-operative setting
- Skills Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office with a specific emphasis on Excel
- Other Skills Preferred: Detail-oriented; excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills; familiarity with EPIC Op-Time and HSM
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
