Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory care to patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and pneumonia.
  • Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and other respiratory treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Conduct pulmonary function tests, including spirometry and arterial blood gas analysis.
  • Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and optimal outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
  • Current registration as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital setting, with a focus on critical care and emergency medicine.
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory care principles, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Special care nursery training and experience.
  • Proficiency in blood gas acquisition and analysis.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and other healthcare technology.
