Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Biology to join our Department of Natural Sciences at Northwest Missouri State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of biology courses, including introductory biology, human physiology, and upper-level courses in their area of specialization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of biology courses, including introductory biology, human physiology, and upper-level courses in aquatic biology, ichthyology, invertebrate zoology, conservation biology, and environmental issues.
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of our students and the department.
  • Contribute to the development of scholarly activity that involves undergraduate and/or master's students.
  • Serve on departmental and university committees as assigned.
  • Hold regular office hours and provide academic advisement, mentorship, and other student support as needed.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in biology or a related scientific discipline.
  • Good classroom management and lecture skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a typical university classroom, office, and laboratory/field environment. The ability to complete essential functions in the classroom and laboratory is required.
