Mechanical Assembly Specialist

As a Mechanical Assembly Specialist at Caterpillar Inc., you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient assembly and sub-assembly of component parts to achieve a finished coupling assembly.
The job requires performing various repetitive processes using varied machines and/or hand tools, with minimal supervision and/or direction. You will be responsible for identifying tooling and equipment necessary to perform assigned operations, following start-up and shut-down procedures on all equipment, and monitoring and adjusting equipment as needed.
You will also be required to move materials as required, perform various assembly or sub-assembly processes, maintain records relating to production, downtime, quality, maintenance, etc., and ensure that all quality standards are met by visually inspecting work and/or with measuring devices.
Additionally, you will recognize operating irregularities and machine malfunctions, make corrections or notify the proper person to correct, and perform rework as necessary. You will also perform machine set-up as required, instruct and train assigned operators on work tasks, safety procedures, proper use of equipment, and the importance of performing to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality standards.
Other responsibilities may include performing preventative maintenance on equipment, meeting or exceeding production requirements, working safely at all times, complying with safety regulations regarding the use of protective equipment and devices, keeping work areas clean and orderly, and performing necessary computer transactions in various computer applications and software programs.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to offer suggestions for improving productivity, process, safety, or work environment, and perform other miscellaneous job assignments and related functions as directed by Team Lead, Manager, or other designated person.

This position requires the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, frequently lift and carry material weighing up to 35 pounds for intervals of 15 to 30 minutes, and meet the physical demands of the job.
Our ideal candidate will have beginner level proficiency of blueprint reading, previous use of precision measuring equipment, and strong communication and organizational skills. Previous SAP experience and intermediate level of computer proficiency are also highly desirable.
