Civil Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at Spotsylvania County- VA. As a key member of our Engineering Operations department, you will be responsible for performing engineering, project management, and other related assignments.

• Perform engineering, project management, and other related assignments under general supervision.
• Plan, design, and review water and sewer utilities projects, including construction administration, distribution and collection systems evaluation, data analysis, and preparing technical reports and documents.
• Assist with maintaining utility information in the County's GIS system and preparing, organizing, and maintaining utility system drawings and computer models.
• Collaborate with other County Departments, state and local government agencies, and consulting engineers, contractors, and operation and maintenance personnel to coordinate work and reviews.
• Develop and track project budgets and expenditures, including revenues where applicable, and prepare engineering, permitting, and design standards drawings using AutoCAD.
• Interact with the public, providing utilities infrastructure maps, performing field investigation work, and supplying necessary information to resolve requests.
• Perform detailed site plan, plat, and as-built reviews in accordance with County Standards and attend professional meetings to stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the engineering field.

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field required, with related work experience preferred.
• College-level course work in hydraulic engineering is preferred, and possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
• Experience with ArcGIS software is preferred, and experience with AutoCAD, or other computer-assisted design and drafting software, is preferred.
• Engineer in Training (E.I.T) Certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.
